Business Development Manager




Our client are a fit out main contractor working in the Commercial, Retail and other specialist sectors, founded in 2006 and currently enjoying a growth period where their Turn Over is circa £12M P/A.


Their in-house industry knowledge – coupled with strong technical abilities within a tightly knit team – allows them to deliver over 30 projects annually.


They are currently looking for a smart, hardworking and client facing individual to join as a Business Development Manager on a Permanent basis to help achieve the businesses growth strategy.  Geographical area Oxford M4 / M3 corridor into London.






·         Researching new business opportunities, both through existing and new clients.


·         Management and development of the company brand and all external promotional media in conjunction with Company Directors,  i.e. website, submissions, newsletter, marketing materials, press releases.


Essential duties and responsibilities



New Business


Research and seek out new business opportunities by identifying new markets and attracting new clients, as well as realising the full potential of existing clients using such tools as marketing, sales, information management and customer service;


Build relationships with potential clients and keeping up-to-date on changes in the industry by attending events, workshops, trade shows, seminars and functions;


Undertake presentations to and negotiations with prospective clients;


Monitor tendering opportunities and liaise with Architects / Project Management companies and target markets in order to generate sales leads;


Respond to tender documents in conjunction with Pre Construction Director to assist with draft formal proposals, follow up on opportunities, contribute to the bid–writing process;


Contribute, implement and assist in the development of strategic business plans and sales strategies;


Analyse market trends, intelligence gathering on customers and competitors;


Maintain a good knowledge of best practice and industry innovations;






Development of all external media i.e. website, submissions, news, marketing materials


Have an input with the quality of company website;


Manage the development of the company brand;


Manage the marketing budget;


Manage press releases and other external new items;


Input on templates for the completion of submissions;


Develop procedures to attain project information in order to complete project profiles, press releases, news items etc.;








Be capable of working unsupervised and regularly reporting to your line Director


Seek advice from Senior Managers/Directors at the earliest opportunity on issues that may affect the reputation of the Company;


Maintain client contact at all times in a professional and friendly manner;


Maintain the highest level of commercial confidentiality in all aspects of employment;


Fully engage in team internal communications and be fully aware of business direction, mission aims and objectives;


Develop relevant personal skills and capability through planning and attending training courses, subject to company approval;


Ensure all activities undertaken meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety/legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duties of care;


Maintain and develop the company image and reputation of the company;


Develop and maintain systems to established standards relating to all operational activities;


Engage with and manage external consultants as required relevant to the business development function;


Engage at all levels with the various Clients the business for in order to demonstrate a value added approach and to be fully aware of potential future workload and current project issues;



Liaise with central departments such as Estimating, Administration, Accounts, Health and Safety, Supply Chain and as required in order to facilitate excellence in your job function;



Provide management information and feedback to your Senior Managers and Directors regularly and consistently at all times;


Read, understand and fully implement the company Health and Safety Policy and Procedures at all times;


Ensure that a non-adversarial, non-confrontational and professional approach is adopted at all times when dealing with all internal and external customers;
