Harvey Jacob is an independent recruitment consultancy who place candidates in both permanent and temporary roles.
Founded in 2007 by a husband-and-wife team who both had several years’ experience working in construction recruitment.

Simon initially started in recruitment in 1998 in the U.A.E. before moving to London where he joined Hill McGlynn a name synonymous in their day for training, development, and consultative approach to the market. After 6 years and having and several promotions, he was managing the most successful team before leaving in 2005 for a new challenge in Sydney Australia. Simon decided to leave Hill McGlynn as the business had been acquired by a large international business called Select/Vedior and the personal consultative business approach was replaced with a more corporate line.

Joining a small independent UK business who had a small Sydney operation, Simon was brought in to develop a Contract / Freelance market within the Construction sector. He quickly developed sound relationships with his honest, caring approach, a small team and strong business was built before leaving to return to the UK. Harvey Jacob Ltd was incorporated in the May 2007 and continues to offer an honest, knowledgeable, and consultative solution with its clients and candidates, many who Simon and Kate have worked with for over 20 years.

Kate and Simon met in 2004, both working for Hill McGlynn, she worked for the construction division of Hudson before successfully transitioning into an internal role for a Construction company.

Kate’s previous financial experience was of great benefit in setting the business up and has responsibility for strategy and Finance.

We take the time to understand your employment history, skills, attributes, and future career aspirations.
The service would include but isn’t restricted to;

  • An initial conversation to gauge an understanding of what the candidate is looking for and a brief of the experience and qualifications
  • A face-to-face interview wherever possible OR an in-depth telephone / virtual interview
  • Advice from Harvey Jacob on what we believe we can do for you, based on discussions around your skills and aspirations.
  • We will then go away and put a shortlist of potential clients that could be a good fit and discuss why we believe this to be the case.
  • We will agree who we are to approach / what requirements we have with clients that may suitable.
  • Prior to any interview, we will provide the candidate with as much relevant information as possible to ensure they are for armed
  • Post interview we will expect candidate feedback, before speaking with the client.
  • Honest feedback will be provided.
  • If an offer is made, we will work with that candidate to ensure this process is a smooth as possible.

  • Meet with business / decision makers to undertake a fact find to ensure we understand the business model, sectors, contracts, competitors
  • Find out how the recruitment process works
  • The nuisances of how each decision maker likes to engage with the recruiter
  • Undertake detailed briefs on specific roles
  • Research, identify and approach talent in the marketplace, with the detail obtained from the client to help attract the right people to the business
  • Present a suitable shortlist that fit the brief
  • Advise clients on market place, findings
